Who we are

This website is operated by Jonathan Clifford, a photographer based in London, UK. You can contact us at info@jonathanclifford.com.

What data we collect and why

The public portfolio is read-only. We do not collect any personal information through forms, accounts, or purchases on it. Clients reviewing their photographs in a private gallery are covered under Client galleries below.

With your consent, we collect anonymised analytics data to understand how visitors use this site. This includes pages viewed, approximate location (country/city level), browser type, and referring website. No data that directly identifies you is collected.

Analytics providers

When you accept analytics, we use two services:

If you decline the cookie banner, neither service loads and no analytics data is sent.

Client galleries

If you are invited to review photographs from a commission, your gallery is hosted at proof.jonathanclifford.com. To run it we hold:

  • your name and email address, as given to us by you or the person who commissioned the shoot
  • the photographs in your gallery, and your picks, comments and final selection
  • basic activity in the gallery, such as when you last visited and which images were opened, so we know where the review has got to

We use this only to deliver the commission (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)), and to email you your gallery link and updates about it. Sign-in uses strictly necessary cookies, which keep you signed in; no analytics or advertising cookies are set in galleries.

The service runs on Supabase (database and file storage, in London), Vercel (hosting) and Resend (email delivery), acting on our behalf. Gallery data is kept for as long as the project needs it and then deleted. Ask at any time and we'll delete it sooner.

Legal basis

Analytics processing is based on your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). You may withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site, or by using your browser's developer tools to remove the jc_analytics_consent key.

Cookies

We use no cookies for advertising, profiling, or cross-site tracking. The only cookies set are those used by Google Analytics (if you have consented), and a localStorage entry to remember your cookie preference.

Data retention

Google Analytics retains data for 26 months by default. Jaunt Analytics data retention is governed by Jaunt Studio's policies. We do not store any analytics data ourselves.

Third parties

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third parties beyond the analytics providers and gallery service providers listed above. This site embeds Vimeo videos on some pages; Vimeo may set its own cookies when you play a video. See Vimeo's privacy policy.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request erasure of your data
  • Object to processing
  • Withdraw consent at any time
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)
