Getting ready for Manila.

October 2nd, 2009 § 0 comments

On Sunday I will be joining 6 other guys from Quest, heading up to Manila to assist with the relief efforts going on in the wake of the typhoon Ketsana which hit the capital last weekend, causing nearly 300 deaths. All over the country donation drives have been organised for the victims and Quest is doing one of their own, collecting clothing and blankets which Philippine Airlines are shipping up to Manila for free.

So today Kuya Dan and I raided the stockpiles of donations that Mercy in Action has received from the UK, boxing up loads of clothes and blankets as well as shoes, baby bottles and a bag of dodgy spectacles from the 80′s – hey every little bit helps right?

Dan didn't require an awful lot of convincing to don this little number.

Whilst we are there I am also hoping to be able to get some photographs of the situation. We will be in Manila from Sunday until Friday so I will do my best to get online and put some photos up. Unfortunately there is another typhoon, ‘Parma’, on the way towards Luzon so who knows how the trip will pan out. All I know is that it will undoubtedly be a very interesting, very moving and very wet experience.
